The Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania provided the information for the readers of the blog “The Bridge of Friendship”
The Romanian automotive industry accounts for 12% of the country’s GDP. It comprises 630 companies with 230 000 employees. It also accounts for 29.8% of the country’s exports in 2021. This makes it key to Romania’s economy.
These are just some of the data and conclusions from a presentation by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania, which was made available to the blog “The Bridge of Friendship”. The presentation gives in a small space a lot of information about the main car manufacturers in the country, the number of employees per county, the development activities and the challenges facing the Romanian car industry. The presentation also provides a snapshot of the turnover figures of Romanian companies in the industry in 2021.
Earlier this year, ACAROM’s Secretary General, Adrian Sandu, gave a lengthy interview to the Bridge of Friendship, in which he spoke about the Romanian automotive industry being in a perfect storm, but resilient. He spoke about the many crises that have been building up in recent years, but also reported some very good data on the development of the industry. For example, more than 500,000 cars are expected to be produced in 2022. And every car produced in Europe has auto parts made in Romania.
